World famous in New Zealand

As far as great weeks go, this one is right up there. Just before we launched nest interiors on Wednesday, I found out that the sport programme I manage is going to feature on a TV series this weekend! Connect2sport is a new initiative designed to get young refugees and migrants connected to the power of sport. Our programmes use sport as a tool to break isolation and help build individuals and their build communities.

Nelson Mandela once said, ‘Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire, the power to unite people in a way that little else can.’ And it’s so true. The boys who feature in this video come from all corners of the world. And yet despite their difference, they all say the same thing. I love football. Football keeps me fit. Football helps me make friends. And my all time favourite, football is a tool to help me get more life.

For all those kiwis out there, I’d encourage you to watch the Neighbourhood programme on TV1 this Sunday 3 June at 11am. You can watch a short introduction to the episode by clicking the pic below.
